A day out to BATHURST RACE TRACK for the BUSY BUSINESSMANS HISTORIC VEHICLE CLUB
BBHVC CAR RUN # 5 Sunday 16th May, 2010
Penrith to Sofala to Home
Apologies for the delay in the newsletter but here it finally is.
It was good to see every member on the run. You may say that Vince was not there, but he sent his better half which counts. He was there in spirit as you will see later in this newsletter.
We were all on time and left the Coffee Club at 9am sharp. Paul told me that he used a new additive in his fuel and it was blowing a “bit” of smoke!!!!!!!!! We put Paul up front because “he knew where he was going” and James stayed at the back to pick up the strays. I don’t know whose idea it was to put Paul at the front but I was behind him and I couldn’t see where I was going.
While travelling along Castlereagh Rd I had a phone call from the El Presidente. He told me that he heard on the 2UE traffic report in Wagga that a blue ute travelling along Northern Rd Penrith was causing traffic havoc with all the smoke it was blowing. We were having high level discussions regarding Paul taking out the “Weakest Link”. Then Paul turned left down a side street – which was supposed to be a shortcut. Surprise surprise – it was the wrong street. So we decided that this put the icing on the cake and that the trophy was his.
We stopped at Lithgow so we could all “bunch up” (this is Maurice speak). The girls did not like where we stopped so we had to go to McDonalds so they could have a McToilet break. James rung up and said that Paul broke down at Mt Tomah and that they left the ute there and were just out of Lithgow.
On to Ilford we went and then to Sofala for our lunch break. The BBQ was overflowing with all different types of stuff (food I hope). Then we had DESSERT - some of us had it a few times. Some stayed for a chat (because they ate too much) while others went into town to walk it off.
While we were chatting Paul told me that he had put a jerry can of diesel in the ute by mistake. I thought it was a bit too much smoke for an additive. He should not have told me that as this just set the trophy in concrete. I don’t think there were any other contenders for it anyway. If there was let me know.
We all had a good run home. Paul picked his ute up at Mt Tomah and made it home.
Once again another nice day. Thanks to James for organising a good run.
